Route Simulator — Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

Route Simulator ("the app") is a developer/QA testing tool that simulates GPS movement along a real route at a controllable speed. This page explains what data the app handles.

Location data

The app reads the start and destination coordinates you choose (via search, manual entry, or an imported GPX file) to compute and simulate a route. These coordinates are sent to Google's Directions, Places, and Roads APIs to retrieve real road-path data. The app does not read or collect your device's real GPS location in the background or at any other time — it only simulates (writes) a fake position while a trip you started is running in the foreground, via a persistent notification. The app does not transmit your location data to any server operated by us — it stays on your device (in local storage) except for the Google API calls described above, which are subject to Google's own privacy policy.

Advertising and analytics

The app shows ads via Google AdMob and uses Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to understand app usage and diagnose crashes. These services may collect device identifiers and usage data as described in Google's Privacy Policy and AdMob's data disclosure. Where required (e.g. EEA/UK), a consent prompt is shown before personalized ads are requested.

Purchases

The optional "Remove Ads" in-app purchase is processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your payment details.

Data you control

Trip history and app preferences are stored locally on your device. You can clear them at any time via Settings → "Clear trip history", or by uninstalling the app.
